Rustam Effendi Appointed as Acting Central Jakarta Mayor

Following the election of Saefullah became City Secretary, Acting Jakarta Governor Basuki 'Ahok' T Purnama directly appointed Rustam Effendi to serve as Acting Central Jakarta Mayor.

Saefullah acknowledged he did not want to take two posts at once. According to him, his task as City Secretary is hard enough. That is why, his deputy has been appointed to serve as his old post. "I don't want to hold two posts at once," he asserted, at City Hall, Monday (7/14).

He stressed he wants to focus on achieving the target in absorption of the 2014 City Budget (APBD), which is still staying at 20 percent. Additionally, he would also accelerate the auction process from 5,114 activity packages in the Goods and Service Procurement Unit (ULP).

 

"I just want to focus on our task as City Secretary. There are still a lot of homework that I should be finished, such as APBD absorption and auction in the ULP. If I take two posts, I cannot work optimally," he expressed former Head of Jakarta Sports and Youth Department.

Nevertheless, he does know whether Deputy Mayor of Central Jakarta Rustam Effendi will be promoted as mayor replacing him or not. Considering the promotion and inauguration are the authority of Jakarta Governor and Vice Governor. "But me, I'm only in its administration," he told.

Meanwhile, Rustam Effendi admitted he is ready to serve as Acting Central Jakarta Mayor. Moreover, it is the the authority of local head. "Don't ask me ready or not, we must be ready to work everywhere," he revealed.
